Does this normally happen when ordering a replacement from Snap On?

I have Snap On t handle Torx tools... AWSGT10 thru AWSGT45

All look like this below.

My t27 ended up breaking so I got another one.... it doesn't match the set?

I see they have individual ones that are now all black.

However, this is what I have:

Am I being too picky or does this normal in the industry?

The handle is even different as it's thicker at the bottom of the shank part, so I had to melt/bend the holder in and put the tool in so it would take the shape of it....

It feels like bahco makes these t-handle for SO! Bahco has on every tool on later years that grey chrome you have!

Too picky, its something that will happen with any third party sourced tools, minor design changes.

OTOH hand I am going out tomorrow to find a replacement for the Proto Challenger wrench in my set of Proto Professional wrenches, and I don't know if I have ever even used the 7/8 wrench I want to replace.

If it bothers you, make yourself happy and find a replacement you like.

You being way too picky.

Tools, along with everything else in the world change in time. Go break a 1940's wrench and tell me what Snap On or any other company will send you.....won't be that identical wrench.

Companies learn that as a product is in the field (and where it fails/breaks), where to improve it. Snap On probably did just that......

Remember, there is always ebay......

I understand how you feel that would bug me as well. I would have to take it with a grain of salt knowing snap on replaced it and held up their end of the bargain and over time things change.

Awesome job modding the holder that looks great

I have had it happen once or twice - old version that broke no longer made, so you get what they sell for that item now. I know the not fitting in the tray thing is annoying.

It happens all the time with all the different companys. Ive gotten matco sockets replaced manly swivel 1/4 drive and they were shallower. For the better actually but it doesnt match anymore. Same thing with snap-on hard handled tools. They dont make their full linup in hard handle anymore. So if u break certain hh tools your gonna enp up with the new instinct handle. Yada yada it goes on. Honestly snap-on replaced the tool for you for free your just going to have to deal with it. ***** but it is what it is.

Sometimes it works out better for you. I had a 3/4" drive ratchet head that was my grandfathers. It must've been from the 40's. Well one day it finally gave out so I turned it into my rep. Turns out he wasn't able to get the gear to fix it so I got a nice and shiny brand new ratchet instead.

This happened to me with a MAC ratchet. It was a 3/8" flex head. (flex head wore out and was floppy) handle was about 7" long.

The replacement they sent me has a 12"+ long handle! Much more compact head as well.
Def not the same ratchet but I actually like the longer handle and more compact head so I'm not complaining.

Of course it's normal. That's kind of a silly question. Every manufacturer changes designs over time.

I'm just as picky lol but in this case I'd be satisfied because tools change with time and at least they didn't foul up and give you a red handle.

I see you're right about Mountain. I knew EZ-Red had replaced these with a different make.
ATD also has the same style as yours now.

ATD, Mountain, and older EZ-Red reversibles (all push through) are made by Kabo which as far as far as I can tell is one of the best in Taiwan.

lol, yea I was just bitching because it's thicker and didn't fit into the flimsy holder without me melting the holder some to force the tool in there because the handle is thicker, and of course the color..lol It's odd they show the set as what I currently have but the replacements are all black in color.

It works so that's what counts even though the OCD part of me is saying **** doesn't match...lol
