Does this sound normal? CH air compressor

Here is a video of the compressor running:

It is a new unit, it has the correct amount and type of oil, the unit is level, nuts and bolts are tight. Other than the knocking noise the unit seems to be working ok.

Any ideas on if the knocking noise is normal?

Thats an unusual sound... Sounds like a piston slapping. but I would think if it was a piston it would do it more often.

Defiantly not normal. If it's new, I would exchange it just to be safe.

Yea, I'd swap it too.
My compressor seemed to get quieter than when it was brand new. Over the next few months it just seemed quieter to me. Probably just my imagination, but I always wondered about it.

I work at an authorized CH Service Center. The backround noise is normal, the irregular knocking is not. Sounds like something is getting batted around in the crankcase.

Thats my guess too as the sound is not consistent. It has to be somewhere with some open space.
