I've seen it done both ways. Pros/cons of either?

My initial thought was to fasten my pex to my foam and put the rebar on chairs above the pex. This gets the rebar nearer the center of the 5" pour and keeps the Pex away from the control cuts.

Thoughts?

mine was a lot of work, but I believe it may be worth it--at least to me. I used some special plastic layout strips to temporarily lay out the pex. Then I laid the rebar on top of the pex and tied the pex to the rebar. then the whole assembly was raised up on rebar chairs. this puts the pex in the lower 1/3 of the 6" to 7" concrete and is secured by the rebar. It also allows the concrete to completely surround the pex to maximize the heat transfer.

Of course, my rebar was set on 12" centers and I used 4000 PSI concrete. I also had it covered for 30 days to maximize the curing...

over kill is just good enough.... your mileage may vary....
