My wife's birthday was Wed. May first, so I made her a few turned seam rippers as presents....
I use the mini lathe I picked up here:
www.garagejournal.com
I made three - 1 out of Cherry - 1 out of Padauk - and 1 out of Acrylic.
It was the first time I'd turned Acrylic and it was fun...It polished up pretty good (for a rookie
)
Large seam ripper out of Cherry

Small seam ripper out of Padauk

Double ended out of Acrylic - small seam ripper on one end and a stiletto on the other end

All three seam rippers...

Turning the Cherry & Padauk ones were easy....

Turning the Acrylic made a huge mess but was fun!!!
(and a learning experience)

Long story slightly shorter, I bought a Sheldon lathe, 13 by 36, I believe. It has a quick change tool post with several tool holders, tailstock live center and chuck and a steady rest. Also included was the 3 phase converter. $250 total... You suckety ****!
