Hey all.
Things are slowing picking up speed. Getting the trees taken out in a few weeks, have a few guys looking this week for site prep.
I am in NE Ohio, and need to heat this thing somehow. Since it is detached, I'll need to trench services. I'll run electric, phone/data, etc. and likely natural gas just so it is out there.
I've been thinking about heating. I had electric at my old garage, which was small, and it kept up great. It was just a small 220 heater. With the new garage being larger, I am hoping to split it with a wall/partition so that I don't have to heat the whole thing all the time. We'll see.
PEX in the floor sure is attractive, but I think the most effective way to do that would be with NG, suppose it could be done with electric.
The use of the garage is secondary/hobby. The driver cars will be in the attached garage. I know in-floor heat takes some time to warm up the space, and might not be the best for going out a few days a week to the shop.
Anyone had any luck with a pellet stove, or anything like that? I've not researched a bunch, so I'm not sure how cost effective they are. What about a used oil burner?
It seems attractive to put the PEX in the floor for a future/upgrade, but am thinking it might not be the best use of energy unless the utilization of the garage is pretty high.
Am I over thinking this?
