I used to use it in locks but now I’m lazy and squirt some WD40 in them when they start acting up. It’s a little less messy too.
I added my new perfect handle Bonney monkey wrench to the others.
We picked up an almost free Chevron RPM garbage can at a sale up the street. I find so many Standard Oil and Chevron marked tools at sales it seems somehow appropriate.
I found the Powr-Kraft oiler that I had stashed away in a box and added it to the others.

I added this S-K set to the display yesterday. The box has been refinished with a wrinkle finish.
I brought this Boraxo can home from the mountains. Some of the cans fell over while we were gone. Small earthquake maybe?

Oh dear, yea, an earthquake could make a real mess of oilcans on a shelf but that's an occupational hazard in your part of the world! If it's any consolation a squirrel broke in to mine whilst I was away and chewed a small hole in the bottom of a can of linseed oil. The BLO slowly leaked out and then half set and stuck everything to the shelf..

I posted some new Barcalo rolls in the Barcalo thread. Yesterday I added them to the basement to be stored in Grandpa Al’s toolbox. I took some fresh pictures of all the rolls.

Here are a couple of new additions to the basement display. A Heritage logo circular saw and sander.

I replaced the wire and did a bit of corrosion and dirt removal. I was surprised that it fired up okay after the cord replacement.
i wasn’t willing to plug in the cord that it came with.

I added the buffer I bought over the summer to the other Heritage power tools today.

Clearing out the cabinet made room for my new Artisan (S-K) 1/2” and 3/8” drive sets.

I added my new Artisan 1/2” drive set in progress to the two others. I still need to add the long breaker bar and crossbar as well as a long extension (according to AA).

Added the extension today and borrowed the flex handle and crossbar from another set until I find others.

I picked up a flex handle to replace the one I borrowed and several pre retaining divot sockets to add to the Artisan set. Now I just have to replace the borrowed cross bar. I’m now satisfied with the Artisan display.

I moved the Indy special set into the basement for a metric set area. The Indy special set I’ve had for a few years and it appears unused. I found it at an El Cerrito garage sale in 2016.
I added a 5/16” Vaco placeholder to the S-K nutdriver set and moved it into the basement.
I added the 1943 Vollrath canteen to the canteen hall tree

I found a couple of dual marked Plomb pieces found over the Summer plus Smokeshow just traded me a 13/16” combination wrench. I decided since it is a rainy day I would redo the dual marked display.

I’ve added a few things to the basement lately. I placed a recent estate sale Kraeuter set next to the completed one.

Another small goal accomplished yesterday. After a lengthy search, I finally found a nice 3/8” drive u-joint on eBay to complete my Kraeuter set. The new u-joint looks to be unused.

At a garage sale around the block this morning I found some oilers. I cleaned them up and added them to the others In the basement.
Here are the oilers In place. The gold one appears to be a duplicate.
Early in November we found an inexpensive little bookcase at a yard sale
i put it in the basement but wasn’t sure what to display in it.
Today I decided to move the three Artisan sets into the bookcase.

I added this mid ‘50s S-K box filled with period correct tools to the basement.
A matched set of ‘56 CA plates joined the others on the wall.
A Stevens and a Walden nutdriver set went into the nutdriver area.

The basement has been lacking flat surfaces that aren’t covered with tools, so when my daughter and son in law offered their recently replaced dining room table I accepted. They loaded it in their Tundra during a window in the rain and brought it over this afternoon. It has some handy drawers in the sides that swallowed up some Powr-Kraft and Kraeuter socket sets. My granddaughter thought that a bow would be appropriate so she added one.

Thanks. Having the new table allowed me to move two of my larger WW2 sets into the basement. One of the first WW2 sets I put together and it has constantly evolved over the years is my General Mechanics Tool Set which is commonly referred to as my GMTK.
The other set I relocated was my US Navy NAF box filled with Navy Aircraft repair tools.
Plenty of weight on one end of the new table.

Today I moved down the earlier MVMTS (Motor Vehicle Mechanics Tool Set) that has tools that would have been included 11/42.
Next I moved down the Plomb based GMTK which is my most recent WW2 toolset with as many vintage correct Plomb tools included that I have been able to find. This photo shows the items in the upper tray.

I’ve recently added a couple of Emeryville made Thorsen 1/4” socket sets to the Thorsen display. I used to be pretty casual about making these sets match period catalogs but I’m now making a little more of an effort. Here are recent #1411 and #1416 sets

On Sunday I found a Wilton Bullet vise at a Richmond, CA. tool sale. A brief negotiation took place and after removing it from the bench that it was bolted to and paying, one of the younger workers put it in our car. Although it was a little dirty, it was in remarkable condition.
I did some gentle cleaning, trying to leave the original paint intact.
Today my buddy Shiftless stopped by and taught me a lot about disassembly of the vise and made suggestions how to proceed with my mini restoration.
Some areas got light oil, other areas Fluid Film and a light coat of BLO for the painted areas.
Onto the hand truck and down to a position of honor on the new table.
Shiftless, thanks again for stopping by and giving me the benefit of your extensive vise experience.

I understand the concern but I’ve moved It to the outside table for cleaning for a few days and due to its weight I doubt that it’s going anywhere. I may slide it back a bit to prevent anyone from turning the handle so it doesn’t become front heavy.

I picked this partial S-K nutdriver set at the post office today. When I add the others I’ve collected I will just be missing the 5/16” driver. The sleeve has one crack but is otherwise intact and fairly flexible.

I put together a circa 1958 S-K 3/8” drive deep socket set and added it to the S-K display.
This prewar S-K 1/4” drive set was missing the crossbar and I found one in another set in progress.
I added it to the S-K display.

Interesting. I never thought to look at the underneath of a Jerry can for a date.
Most of the old ones are rusted away by now though, but sometimes see them in antique shops.

I’ve added a few interesting tools to the basement lately. GJ member genog sent me this empty box which I determined to be for a Thorsen 3/8” drive set.
I gradually added tools from my spares and then the main storages boxes.
It has been added to the Thorsen display.
I found a little shelf unit at an estate sale to hold some 1/4” drive Plomb overflow sets.
I pulled off the top trim and filled it up
Here is my first ever HD Smith Perfect Handle little pipe wrench.

There have been a few additions since my last update. I found a 14” Perfect Handle pipe wrench to go along with my 8” example.
Together in the basement with the rust removed.
I found a 1/4” drive Artisan socket set to complete the Artisan display. The Artisan 1/4” drive ratchets are hard to find and the bidding was lively.

These are the Artisan branded tools in the lower section of the carry box.
