A bit late for more photos now, the Dino has just been picked up by the transport and I have to get a good scrub before an early start to meet up with the car tomorrow am.
Promise I will take more when I get back.
In the meantime here are a couple of my workbench with fold away grinder etc.

I like the fold away grinder idea. That is not a new idea, however it is one not often seen or employed these days and it is one of my favorites. Well done, great space.

Excellent work area! I like the fold away grinder and buffer.

One thing nice about Europe. They build things to last. None of the studs and sheetrock stuff that is standard over in the US.

I agree, that's a wonderful idea for any garage. I'm also facinated by the brickwork. Is it an older industrial building, or a part of your home property?

Thanks for posting!

Well I promised Billymade some photos so here goes. Sorry I didnt have the time to clean up but i am busy moving cars around trying to make space to put the Dino into the Airchamber for its hibernation, and it is just too cold for cleaning!
The workshop is an old brick barn next to my house it has a double garage at the other end for everday cars so this bit is my playroom.
Hope you like it

Dave,
what was the show?
Was it the Classic Car Show?
If so, I was there on a press ticket. For some reason I only saw your post today, or I'd have popped over to say hello.

Any more shows you will be at please let me know in advance.

Very nice shop and cars. I've never been to the UK so I'm curious about one thing. Are all of your electric tools 220 volt?

I love your shop! All the old British "iron" in your garage are just so.... shall we say... oozes... "Britishness"! :) There is something very unique to classic British design icons: Jaguar XKEs, Spitfire aeroplanes, Merlin engines, Morris Mini Minors, red public phone booths, double decker buses in London and of course my childhood love.... Real British Made classic Matchbox cars... that kept me entertained for hours! Any outside pics to understand the overall building? The new addition of your bigger Snap-On tool box sets off your shop nicely! :) Thanks! Any and all pics your willing to post are appreciated!

I LIKE IT!, Looks like it is an older building, in outstanding shape. The lumber for the rafters looks older, nice brick work. Did you modify the structure, or find the building like it is, except for all the shop equipment?

The building is an old barn next to my home which is a 200 yr old farmhouse.
I have not altered the outer structure but I have moved some of the central piers which held up the upper floor beams. I replaced these with a steel column near to the staircase and then supported the beams with a steel joist spanning almost the full width of the shop.

In Uk most power tools are 220/240v for domestic use but are usually 110v for site use.

In my shop I have 220v but I also have a 415v 3 phase supply to power the 4 post ramp, the shotblast cabinet and the high output compressor that feeds the blast cabinet.

Frank the show was the classic car show but we were in the hall where the Top Gear Live show was going on. We were on the Autoglym Concours stand

Thanks for your comments

Dave,

That is my idea of a classic "dream" garage... just the feel and the cozyness of the space. Yeah alot of people have bigger shops that are fancier, etc. However yours just seems down right... well "right". Your beautiful cars don't hurt the picture either! Seriously a very nice setup. 200 is just getting started for a structure on that side of the pond!

I love old brick buildings, but in the climate we have here, you'd just die of heat in the summer...brick buildings soak up so much heat, and just retain it to the point that it would be unbearable. There are lots of brick homes in the City of St Louis, built from 1890s' to 1950s, and people literally die from the heat every summer. That is a cool set up you have there!

I can never get used to Stateside calling the Jag an XKE. In the UK it was sold as the E-Type.

Dave, I saw the Autoglym Concours stand, might even have stood next to you...

I avoid Top Gear things like the plague. Hammond is OK, we've had him in the magazine a couple of times and on our show stand, but I fell out with Clarkson a while ago when he stopped being a motoring journalist and turned into a clown.

Love your garage and set up. Nice that "we" can keep our ends up on this site :)

Actually, yes I was.
Over the years at various car launches, press days etc, I guess I've bumped into most of them, from Chris Goffey to Vicki B-H, and the general press pack of newspaper and magazine people have not had much time for the TV "personalities". Not jealousy, most of us are ok in our own fields, but most of them have been royal pricks.
Then along came Clarkson. He was a revelation. He could sum up a car in a few words, he could be humourous without being gratuitously insulting and he actually knew his subject.

Now he's just a show-business clown. I am both surprised and disappointed.

The Moggie is quite good. My daughter learned to drive in it and built up her no claims etc but then she found out that her brakes were better than the artic travelling behind her on M6 so I have spent a lot of this summer rebuilding the back end
