I have had a Mr Heater 45k NG in my garage for 3 years now and love it. Works great and lets me work year round in the garage in total comfort.

To avoid heating the entire universe when either of my garage doors are open I installed magnetic switches on each door. You know the kind like they use in alarm systems. I then wired them in series with the LV thermostat loop. Now everytime the doors are open the heater shuts off or doesn't start when a call for heat comes from the thermostat.

Might be a nice feature some of you want to add in case the kids leave the garage door open and spill out all your heat.

Interesting idea. Personally, I prefer to keep my doors closed except when moving the vehicles in or out, then open for a minute or two. The heater points away from the door so I don't loose that much heat.
