Those were the most common home shop grinders back in the day. I've been using one for forty years and still works fine.

Looks like it had a Craftsman badge on the bottom, not unlike this one I just picked up. Mine is ball bearings though, think yours has bronze bushings, looking at the oil cups.

Moore: yep it looks like yours had a Craftsman heritage badge like 454's. i'd replace the stone without a guard with a wire wheel if it was mine and i was going to use it. since i have several Craftsman block grinders i'd probably pass on that style unless i had to have it for an older vintage look in an area of my shop.

i've seen many handy guys still using one of those style grounders cause they do work if you set them up correctly.

Thanks for the input I thought the same thing bout the craftsman logo and the old wheels are craftsman as well although I'll be shitcaning the old wheels and happy Easter
