...I am having a HUGE pro blem in the tool box department of life.

The problem I'm wondering if anyone can answer is this. Do companies NOT produce tool boxes in the winter months?

I have $1500 to purchase a tool box so I did due diligence and researched the heck out of the subject. I decided to go with the "newer" Milwaukee 46" box at Home Depot. Come to find out in my city in FAR northern California, that they only had these for Black Friday, and they didnt sell to well and they will most likely NOT be getting any in...ever. I contacted Milwaukee and they directed me to a company called Geelong out of China where evidently EVERY box that is sold at consumer level that has the same profile and power strips in it is made. And probably every other box also.

So I thought cool...I'll go with the HF 72" with 2 side cabs. NO. As of last week, Harbor Freight (Geelong) no longer makes the side boxes.

What the flying f*#k is going on? I just want to get my tools in a tool box as my cheap Fastenal box literally collapsed.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to GJ.

For a little bit more than the two side boxes, you could buy a 44" box. That is of course, you'll be pushing that box around a shop instead of a fixed location. If the fixed location is your deal, consider getting a 44" boxes and build a Steevo-style bench.

Thanks guys for the replies. I have thought about combining two boxes. Like get the 72" and get another brand of top box.

But I'm still seeking an answer to my initial question. Is the winter season just not the time companies make tool boxes?

I wanted to buy Rural King's 72" Frontier top & bottom for approx 6 months. Unavailable last summer and fall. They never had any in stock until early January. Had to time it just right so I could bring them home on a relatively snow-free day.

Harbor Freight has discontinued the 18" deep side box, locker, and 44" cabinet/chest. They are bringing out 22" deep versions. The 22" deep, 44" base cab has been hitting stores already. But nothing yet on the rest of the line up. Rumor has it, they will offer black and blue colors, also.

I suspect you just happened to focus on two particular models that had limited availability for different reasons.

Probably that and the tool box stock is built up for the holidays. If you don' get one then, you'll probably have to wait to the production starts ramping back up.

I bought mine from strictly tool boxes also. I really like it. They delivered right to the shop door.
