... you decide to go with a 'real' socket organization system and you find you have LOTS of empty spaces?
I was fed up with my DIY socket holder because sockets were forever falling over when I opened or closed the drawer or when I tried to lift the holder out.
I had made it in a hour or so using 3/4 plywood with some pegboard and some dowels.
I was browsing at my local Princess Auto and saw this socket organizer on for sale for $33 so figured it would go a long way in fixing my dodgy DIY solution.
The socket organizer matches 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sockets by SAE and Metric and hen 6 point and 12 point - it's a very comprehensive system...
After I filled up all the available holes with my sockets, I found a lot of empty holes - it's driving the OCD in me crazy
I even tried putting 12 point sockets in the 6 point holes but I came back after 5 minutes because I couldn't stand the thought of these sockets not being in their rightful place.
I know, I know .. it's crazy and I should just live with it, but I can't. I've made a list of all the missing sockets and will be stopping by Princess Auto tomorrow to fill in what I'm missing.
Here's what I'm left with after:
The tray itself is really nice, very well built and has nice handles on the sides that make it easier to carry out. It does come with little black plastic holders that you pop into small holes in each space, but I found they were a pain to install and often popped out when I tried to remove the socket so I didn't bother installing them all.
