Door CLOSER question

I am looking for a hydraulic door closer, like in commercial buildings to keep my 36" walk-through door closed. I have found lots of them on ebay, but not sure what I'm really looking for....

I want one that will hold the door open also. Door swings in. Hinge is on the left side while looking at the door from the inside.

Any suggestions? I don't want a **** one, but don't really want to spend a bunch of cash either. But I would rather wait and buy the right one than waste money on ****...

Thanks!

p,
I just replaced both of the ones on the two entrance doors at the shop. Got them at Home Depot. About $80 each. I would be leary of buying something like that off ebay. With the one from HD if it didnt fit or work properly, its a 5 minute ride to exchange it. The ones on the building were the same brand and are close to 20 years old so I got my money's worth with them :)

that is a special feature that holds it open. Its actually called a hold open or HO feature.
What brands are you seeing on ebay?

LCN Dorma Norton are some good grade surface mounted commercial door closers.

Good Luck. if you could find one with the HO feature for $80 that sounds cheap. Most likley the $80 does not have that feature.

Norton or LCN by ingersol rand. I saw many listings for both on Ebay. Both are top of the line commercial grade. Deals are on Ebay, or call your local commercial build material distributer. Those two brands are the biggest and best in commercial door closers.

Thanks guys! Can most of these be used on a swing "in" door vs. a swing "out"? I see that a lot of them are convertible from a RH door to a LH door, but don't see any "in" vs. "out".

As far as brands on ebay, lots....thus my questions. I will absolutely spend more for a hold-open option though.

some closers come with the bracket that allows you to swing them in. they also have what is called a parellel arm closer witih this the arm is not protrudining off the door it kinda tucks parrelel to the door when closed. The method you want to do you have to mount the closer body mount to the door itself the arm then mount to the heard of the jamb.

Sometimes there is a special bracket needed for the arm depends on the closer you buy.
Ill try and look tomorrow at work for more accurate info.

Check with your local commercial door supplier. All of the brands listed are good. There are lots of options. Try google also.

Plus, LCN closers have a 10 year warranty on the body. If it leaks, take it back and get a new on. More expensive upfront but you probably wont spend anymore money on it later.

not true many closers are interchangeable. I install many LCN closers for those hard earned and well spent School tax money lol.

Its disgustin what waste goes thru the public school systems. If people only knew what really went on.

From spendin money cause they want a higher budget next year and we all knwo what that causes thats right our property school tax to increase.

LCN is def a good quality closer cant go wrong.

I was at Depot today and took notice of what they had you cna use one of there by mounting the closer body to the door and the arm bracket to the top of the frame but they dont offer that Hold open feature. Good luck
