I have a steel building that I had put up over a year ago and I have not been able to get doors up until now.

I have 3 openings-- 12x12--the building is 35x50 with 16' eaves.

I have gotten quotes on barrel style doors and also standard residential style roll up doors.

Anyone have any pros/cons for each style of door?

This is a pretty vague question, some more info would help. Like are the doors going to be insulated? Are the door tracks a concern, as far as being in the way of a lift? etc.

If you are wanting insulated doors, a standard sectional door will be the best option hands down. You can get uninsulated doors all the way up to doors that have an R factor of almost 20. I also believe that sectional doors are better than a roll up style door, just because IMO, they are a much stronger door. Especially for a 12x12, that is a pretty big area that can catch a whole lot of wind. Plus there are many options as far as looks- short panel, long panel, carriage house, window options, and so on.

As far as roll up doors, they are okay. Around here they are just pretty much used on storage units and small sheds. We have installed some and worked on some. They aren't a bad door by any means, in the right situation they are great. They are definitely something that I wouldn't even consider if you plan on opening and closing the door multiple times a day. I am sure there are some out there that can stand the test of time, but I just don't feel they are the door a sectional door is.

That is kinda what I had heard and why Im leaning to a sectional door.

Thanks for the input.
