Door hinges seem off

I just hung 9 doors (all 80" ). Then 10th door is a 84". All the doors are from the same manufacturer. The 80" doors all went smooth.

The bottom hinges on the 84" door just aren't lining up.

All of these are prehung doors. I shimmed out the jambs with the door in place and nailed/screwed the jambs in place. The hinges all looked identical, so i thru them in a bucket when it was time to paint. Maybe this last set is off a little?

Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

They should be identical, but hinges are cheap parts and not to tight tolerances, so may not always stack up perfectly when parts interchanged. You may be able to rearrange the parts you have to fit better.

That just looks bent (from the angle shown). It doesn't take much for them to get all cattywampus.

Loosen the all screws on both leaves of the bottom hinge a hinge a half turn and see if you can get them lined up that way.

A look at the latch side should tell you if it is a hinge, door or jamb issue.

I can't get the middle pin in. I tried using an air shim. The door side leaf needs to get move toward the hinge side leaf. I just can't wrestle it over for the life of me.

After a closer look, it seems to me that the middle is lined up ok, but the bottom is not. Remove one bottom leaf and see if the middle slides in place. If so, maybe reinstall the bottom loosely, put the pin in and tighten screws. Or swap parts til you find the magic mix.

If these were pre hung, did you put the wrong door in the wrong frame?

Did you leave the door leaning against a wall long enough to warp?

Same thought here. Honestly, I would probably loosen the screws a bit and tap it with a hammer.

This might sound stupid, but try moving the middle hinge leaf on the door to the bottom and the bottom door hinge leaf to the middle and see what happens.

As others have said, door hinges are not made to the tightest of tolerances and maybe the hinge leaves for the door and the corresponding hinge leaves for the jamb were off a bit and they paired them up at the factor.

Don’t be afraid to adjust the hinge barrel with a chunk of wood and a hammer. For fine adjustment after the door is hung you can put small shims under the hinge plate to move the barrel left or right depending on the frame fit up.

Yup I've used cardboard shims under the door side leaf to space doors away from the jamb

I've had some hinges with a similar problem. Emtek so they're not cheap junk. I had a couple of doors where I had to tweak the mortise to get them to fit right. I'm guessing the old original hinges were such a loose fit that, when I got tighter tolerance ones, it threw things off.

These are way better than cardboard. I've used them for years. They come in 3-1/2" and 4". Amazon and others....
