I installed a door opener on my shop roll up door. After it was installed it opened fine but wouldn't close. I had the installers come back out and they couldn't find anything wrong. After a few experiments, I found out that it is the sun interfering with the senors. I really dont have any shade and if i try to close the door before the sun goes down it wont shut. I know there are many against bypassing the sensors and I agree since I have two small kids. Are there any other options to fix this? I've tried putting cardboard shields over them without any luck.

Make cardboard or sheet metal shades. Sometimes you can get away with a short piece of paper towel tube.

A short (2" - 3") piece of 1/2" or 3/4" PVC can work well, if the reversing of the units doesn't just shift the problem from afternoon to morning or vice versa.
