Door opener range *****!!!

So I have a pretty new craftsman door opener and the range on it ***** to where I almost need to be right in front of the door for it to work. I have an older one on my other door and that thing works from down the street. I would think that a new one work just as good if not better but its not the case here. Ive tried new batteries with no luck. Are there any universal remotes that work better? Or any ideas to make it better?

Newer remotes with the watch batteries blow compared to the older ones that take the 9v batteries. I'd try and find a compatible remote that takes the stronger batteries.

Make sure that the antenna wire is hanging down from the opener.

Also do a google search for garage door antenna extender.

Yeah my older one takes the round 12v battery and works great. Yes the antenna is hanging down. Sometimes I need to press the button 10 times for it work and hang it out the window of my car!!! I'm sure insulated doors don't help.

Do you have any wireless devices such as cameras near by? I had a wireless netcam mess up the range of my remote. Powered off the cam and remotes distance was great. Turned on the cam and remote would only work within about 15 ft of the garage.

Also, LED bulbs can screw with the signal. Had the same thing happen to mine, switched back to incandescent bulbs, presto. Not sure if CFL bulbs do the same thing or not, but definitely led.
