Ok. My very first post ever... Hi all.
Start w/ A frozen garage door to the floor now is thawed out. Upon trying to open the door wife must have threw chain off the garage door opener motor gear by trying to open it approaching in her car. Got the chain reattached, adjusted the chain slack properly and now cannot get the door to go all the way down, stops about 6" above the floor. Tried to unlatch at the safety strap and adjuster the chain to where there is little or no sag in it--rolls fine and goes all the way up fine. The limit screws are topped out. All the way down tension set/ all way up tension set.

Help!
I no more limit down force screw left---cannot reduce up force limit screw any further (w/o the door not going down at all)

Anyone have any answer?..........

Sometimes the limit screws are independent of the traveler is, they just measure sprocket revolutions.

Without actually seeing it (or knowing model number, etc - the flames are coming, just wait!) I can't be sure, but try this:

Open the door with the opener. Set the DOWN limit screw to approximately the center of it's travel. Close the door with the opener. Take the CHAIN back off so the door closes completely. Put chain back on. Run the door and tweak the limits where you need them.

Should do it.

When you put the chain back on, you may have got it a few teeth off on the sprocket. Take the chain off, adjust the end-of-travel knobs so they are set at about mid-point, and cycle the opener so it runs up and then runs back down. Reconnect the chain, and then fine tune the open and close positions.
