Door to jamb cleareance/gap

I get the part about stacking the panels and holding them against the jamb by toe-nailing - then installing vertical track etc. What I don't get is how to establish a proper gap between front of door and jamb when the panels are flush against the jamb. Please help.

Guessing here, you’re installing an overhead door?

A better description would help. Pictures would really help.

Use a precision measuring tool.

On the dozen or so doors I have installed, all of the vertical track supports were riveted, therefore I couldn’t change the distance between the door panels and the jamb.
