My barn is solidly constructed but the doors and windows are not great. Originally I had three doors, two wider than a typical door, one 8’ wide, the wide one I have removed and replaced with a regular roll up garage door.
I’d like to replace the other doors, I’m inclined to put in regular big box store exterior doors, probably $200 a piece then frame around them to fill the gaps.
For windows I have 5 cheap wooden windows that aren’t in the best condition, I’d like to replace them but don’t feel I need residential quality double glazed units, I seem to be struggling to find cheaper windows suitable for a barn - any suggestions?
Finally I have two other “openings” that have sliding heavy wood “shutters”. They don’t seal or latch well, one is maybe 6’ wife and 4’ tall, the other say 4’ x 4’, looking for options as windows, better shutters or even just closing the spaces up.
What do others do for windows/doors in a barn? Per my other thread I’m contemplating insulating/heating it so lots of drafts from all of these would obviously be an issue I’d have to deal with.
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.
