I have a Dotco angle die grinder with bad head bearings...yes it is kept greased and oiled...but it finally crapped out. Anyone ever rebuilt one of these , or best to send out? Any special tools involved?

I cannot speak for Dotco die grinders, as I have no experience with them, but I have rebuilt die grinders and other air tools before. I would suggest emailing them and asking for a exploded take-apart diagram. Most of the times they will send you the diagram including part numbers. As for bearings, if you can get it apart, most ball bearings have part numbers on them, and they are universal (not specific from brand to brand). I am in the middle of rebuilding a TorcUp Raptor 2000 air torque wrench currently, I sourced some components from the manufacturer (TorcUp), and some, such as the bearings, from other suppliers.

Most of the air tools can be taken apart with fairly basic set of tool occasionally you need a a torx bit or a pin wrench similar to that on a angle grinder. But I've always been able to get at it one way or another..

I'd find some way to get it repaired if it was me. Those Dotco tools are the best of the best. They're full on 24/7 manufacturer grade tools. The kind of stuff you find on assembly lines. That die grinder probably costs $400 new.

Depends. For instance, this Raptor i am rebuilding i needed to use an arbor press to press certain things out, and snap ring pliers as well as a pin spanner. Other than that, just hex keys.

Straight die grinders are fairly easy on the other hand, most of the time the work end has a cap that cap screw on or off, then you just remove the whole motor rotor assembly. The bearings may need to be pressed off.

Like i said, email the company and ask for a diagram.
