For a general purpose saw the dewalt has the best marking system which tend to produce more accurate results as well the tabel has a double lock and goes futher than the standard angles add in the double slider mechanism which has very little play and the extreme depth of cut and you get a saw that will produce perfect miters on 10"+ moulding

The way he said it might have been a little vague but it's very true that the dewalt has some of the best features and will produce some of the best quality work in it class and price range

The Makita double beams are hard to beat. I've had an LS1013 for about 20 years, has held up well to professional work on house trimming and some cabinet making on a part time basis for that time. I bought two or three cheaper ones and traded up when they weren't good enough; didn't have to trade up from this one.

Bosch GCM12SD glide saw fits in my Gladiator cabinet, it's probably one of the few 12" saws that do. That was one of my main criteria, I hate having tools that can't be put away. It's probably wayyy too much saw for what I need, but it's compact, tons of capacity, and should outlive me.

Only complaint that comes up is that it's heavy, but just workout more. It's good for you.

All the Home depots by me have stocked up on the 10" Ridgid sliding miter saw- it's going to be a black Friday Special this year. How do I know? They have tags on them that say "keep off the floor until Black Friday" Anyway, seems like a nice unit, but very heavy. I have an older non-sliding craftsman that gets the job done. Let us know which one you decide to go with.

I've been waiting on news like this- after waiting 3 months for the "new" versions of the 12" double compound to arrive, I had to question if the sliding version would be updated soon. If the 10" sliders are going out the door in a hurry on Black Friday, there's a good chance they're making room for new models. The 12" won't be far behind.

Now the question is do I wait to check out the potentially updated 10" slider, or go with the "new" 12" non-sliding. Right now there's only a $50 difference between the two, but who knows if that will last into new models.

Also, the 12" non-sliding "old" models are on clearance as low as $210 in some stores around Philly, but good luck getting around here the next few days with the Pope in town!

I have the Kobalt one. It did take an hour to setup but once done, it is good. You can adjust the laser side to side and what not. I find it annoying when trying to line up my pencil line and the blade. The blade leaves a lot to be desired.

Price was right too!
