Double ended fine/coarse thread studs??

I am looking for a threaded stud, 5/8" - 11 on one end and 5/8" - 18 on the other, can't seem to find any options. It holds the bell housing on a transmission. Overall is about 2 3/8" with 1/2" of course threads and 1 1/8" fine threads. I searched a bunch of terms in google, with no real results.

Is this a Ford? Check out exhaust manifold studs for 2002 5.4. Think they are like that.

Try some heavy truck axle flange studs the thread size is right just not sure on the length try a place that sell heavy truck parts.

Only one end gets threaded into a tapped hole. Just get a straight stud to fit the tapped hole, and matching nuts for the other end. Personally, I would do it the GJ way- buy a metal lathe and make your own.

The bolts that mount the trans to the engine are similar on my truck.

I don't know what kind of vehicle this is on, but did you try finding the bolts on an engine diagram?

It is a big truck, the trans has course threads and the stud holds the bell housing on with the fine thread nuts. While I could change to all course threads, I am sure they did fine threads for a reason. I will call Eaton, but I am sure these can be bought if I can figure out how to search for them correctly.

I think that the course part has to but up against the housing without protruding into it, so might be able to use a longer one and cut it down, I am not sure what grade, definitely something strong. I will be calling the local transmission place, the interwebs show lots of PNs but not a lot of description on size, I know there are metric versions on the newer transmissions.

I found a diagram, it doesn't list the stud dimensions, but it has the size of the nut, so I think I found the PN.

They aren't that expensive either. I still think there should be an easy place to buy them just as a fastener. McMaster didn't have them, most bolt places had them in all course threads.

Call a heavy truck repair dealer they should be able to order them and ship them to you. Again you need to call a heavy truck dealer your local truck repair shop won't have the ability to order this from Meritor they will just call the dealer to get them and mark them up.

I needed custom length head studs for my Ford Flathead V8. I could not find what I wanted, so I made all 48 of them. I bought 7/16" stainless drill rod and 7/16" 20 tpi nuts at Pacific Fasteners. I cut the threads in my Myford lathe, 7/16" ,14 tpi on one end and 20 tpi on the other end.

A blown flathead with all the jewelry, awesome.

About 25 years ago my brother who lived in Florida had a friend who, with his father, drag raced a '32 5 window back in the 1950-60's. His Dad bought it new in 1932. His shop was stacked to the gills with period flathead speed equipment including 3 sets of Ardun heads, 2 of the sets were unused and still in the box. There was probably a dozen supercharger setups and stacks of vintage heads and manifolds. A lot of 40's era speed equipment from the greats as they were starting their businesses. He called the collection his "retirement plan". My boss at the time was a big model A fan so I videoed the shop and parts room and showed it to him when I got back from vacation, his jaw hit the floor then he walked around in a daze for the rest of the day.
