in France, we use differents warning grids for different network for exemple.

GREEN for télécommunication
RED for low voltage, high voltage and street light
YELLOW for gas, liquid hydrocarbon transportation
BLUE for potable water
BROWN for sanitation

At home, i used yellow grid for gas. this is to avoid big problems later :lol2:

We do use a warning tape here, its 150mm wide yellow plastic tape with whatever service its covering printed on it, gas, electric, water etc, but a lot of people don't bother. It's also a good idea to bury cables and pipes in sand, its another thing to spot, or 10mm clean stone for drainage pipes, supports them well and prevents damage from larger stones.
I would say you're product is better though.

Should the drain across the front of the garage have a trapped gully, just wondering what stops the drain smell coming out in front of your door?

Hi, apologies for not responding earlier, I haven't had much time to come on here lately. If I am honest, I didn't think about that. I guess looking back it should have but its too late now. Do you think there will be an issue with a soak away pit?

Shouldn't be a problem, surface water drains don't smell, only foul drains. Since its going into your own soak away pit it will be fine.

Hi all,

So where do i stand in 2016. Well my new job has really taken off since my last update. It has taken up most of Monday to Friday and when work hasn't taken up time i have been off playing hockey. So not had much time to get the remaining work done. I am now making more of an effort so i can finally enjoy the space.

The drive is 95% complete, just some infill slabs and jointing to do and that will be complete. I have made a start on the sliding gate and the council are currently waiting for my cheque to clear so they can put in the drop kerb on the pavement.

So, the start of the drive. I tried and managed for the most part to slope the initial meter of slabs away from the entrance. The slabs are natural slate and ****** heavy to lift the big ones….I have tried to lay them on at least 1/2" to an inch or cement to add strength.

This is my first ever attempt at slab laying so please don't have too much of a go. :willy_nil

Despite the weird picture of our boy running towards me, this is the nearly finished drive. So far it has stayed clean for 5 minutes due to the dogs running around. I am hoping a good clean and some sealer will help keep the mud down and not allow it to become ingrained.

So the first real work undertaken inside. This is the start of the sliding gate, i went for lap joints, which i regretted after cutting the first one. i then found the joys of routers and am again happy with the decision.

The temporary barricade to keep the dogs in.

One of my better joints…..

And where i left off the other night.

I will complete the gate by adding feather edge to match the fence and then i will have a fully operational entrance.

I hope to have more updates soon.

Thanks for reading for those who have stayed with this thread.

Hi all, hope everyone is well?

A small update this time. I managed to finish the gate off and not long after, the council came to install the dropped kerb(Sorry for the poor first photo):

It has since had the finishing layer of tarmac added.

After a week allowing the concrete to dry, i was gagging to get the car inside to see how it looks and how much space i would have either side.

So, finally after all this time, i now have the 34 in the garage.

To commemorate, i gave the old girl a wash. I was pleased on two fronts.
1) The car made it into the garden without scraping.
2) the slabs have held up under the weight of the car- i had nightmares they would crack!

Next steps will be tidy the garden and make that look nice and finish off the fencing. I hope to come back to the garage later this year with insulation and some flooring.

Excellent progress, must be very satisfying to reach this point. Decent sized space and enough room for a well equipped workshop.

Thanks for the comments everyone and thanks for still reading!

So i finally got round to washing the daily driver after a winter of commuting duties, i forgot what a nice colour the car is!

So on to the first 'real' job in the garage. Replacing the better halves from bumper.
We were out watching a comedy show for her birthday, when some joker hit it in the car park. The damage wasn't too bad but annoying enough to do something about.

I considered getting a body shop to look at and then i rang Honda. A replacement, painted bumper was too cheap to bother with the body shop so an order was placed

Baz, two cars in there, i thought it would be tight but i had more room than i thought.

The dogs lent a helping hand. Micro fibres are there to protect the wings, i didn't want any marks.

The freshly painted replacement from Honda, really well finished, i was impressed.

The final article all built up and ready to slot onto the car.

So the first proper garage job completed and it was a pleasure to wok in there. I didn't fancy tacking this on the drive.

Thank you Cris, hopefully the workshop part will come later in the year. I really need a toolbox- its a mess in there at the moment.

Great job, good to see your motor inside I'm sure!
Big relief to finally get it there.

Very nice.
Thank you.

Looking good. Even space for a second car in there!
Baz, thank you, there's more room than i thought. I had a feeling it was going to be a little tight but i needn't have worried.

Nice GT-R R34. I wish I could fit my GT-R R32 into my garage.Unfortunatley it is to narrow.
Ah no, off street parking to keep her safe?
