Hi guys.

I'm having a problem no doupt many have had before.

My garage has a single door but I need to fit two cars in. The garage is a nightmare to get the first car in with about a 50 point turn to get the car over far enough to get the second car in.

I have a set of wheel dollies which means jacking the car up to get it onto them then pushing it over. Which works a treat although its not very easy for one person to move. and take quite a while.

Someone must have a system where the drive straight into space number one and slide the car over into space number two. A quick and easy job for one person?

I have found a park and slide system but it is no longer available. Someone on here must have done this??

Is it not a standard 2 car garage door? I've got a small 2 car garage and getting the cars through the door isn't ever been a problem.

How wide is the door?
Can you frame out and put a larger one in? That seems to be a real solution.
Backing in allows you more ability to get it tight to one wall.

I had the same problem. I made a rolling platform myself. The attached picture shows the construction rather well. It can easily be pushed by one person. Drive the car on to it and push it out of the way.

The thumbnail is on its side. Sorry for that.

Greetings from the Netherlands

I am going to tell you the secret. You are not going to believe me but if you will try this it should work. OK? Ready?

Back both cars in.

The geometry of a car that turns the front wheels is different when backing. Sure everybody has noticed this but it is more profound than just the fact that people avoid backing their cars as much as possible.

With a little practice you will get good at it.

Thanks guys for the sensible answers.

It is an industrial unit with the door very much over to one side. With all the toolboxes round the edge. You cant back the car into the side without doing a 100 point turn which on a racing clutch is not a good idea.

Kraton the system you have built is exactly what I have in mind just lower profile. It looks good though. I thought loads of people on here would have a similar system.

I have wheel skates that I use just now its just that even with the car on them its not always easy to move with one person.

Thinking about buying track to bolt to the floor with runners that slot into it. Then make 4 plates to bolt onto the runners. Drive onto the plates then push the car to the side.

There is a guy on The Garage Journal that has fabricated a system to slide his car over a half-meter or so. Unfortunately I don't have a link. It is a single garage, here in the states. Maybe someone else knows which one I am referring to?
