Hi

I'm having a really hard time finding some lumber to build some exterior eaves brackets and exterior porch brackets...

I've tried the local lumber yard, home depot, menards, lumber yards in 3 other nearby towns...

I'm looking for 1"x8"x8' Dough Fir boards...but can only seem to find them in 2"x

Don't want pressure treated lumber...

The cost of cedar is too much...

Would pine hold up if properly painted?

Any help or suggestions?

Thanks!
Patrick

Go with the cedar - easily worked, it holds paint very well and is dimensionally stable in moist environment - won't warp like pine.
