How old does it have to be to play? This was my father's, probably mid 60s. I don't think I've used it since the eighties. Today I had to connect 2 pieces of shelving that landed between the supports. Today you would use a biscuit cutter but they aren't givin' 'em away and I had this.

I do a lot of dowels... it's my attach this to that choice nearly 100% of the time.

I think dowels will usually be stronger than biscuits. Assuming they are the appropriate size and done properly.

Biscuits are great, but there is nothing wrong with a good dowel joint.

My cousins husband has one of those and wanted to know if I was interested... it's a great tool if you have a need to "make your own". Specially if you want them out of a certain wood... but for me... It's nice but...

Can't see the need for the space or the effort using it.

I saw this post and remembered that I have one of those. I got it at a flea market back in the seventies. Used it once in the last ten years ti set alignment pins in a table leaf.

They are stronger, and if done right, they align better.

OP, I have that same Stanley; it's a nice tool.
