Drain old compressor?

I have a 1990s Craftsmen 25gal compressor that I haven't drained any possible moisture from in 10+ years.

It is rarely used. Maybe top off tires on lawn mower twice a month

I am worried if I try to drain it the likely corroded and might break off.

I dont seem to have moisture in lines casing issues . Leave it alone ?

Try to drain it.
If you can't get it opened, you can replace the petcock for a few bucks.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to switch to a 1/4 turn valve.
I always get confused about which way to turn the wing style things.

yeah the drain valve comes out so if it breaks it breaks, no big deal.

Try and make it right. The alternative could be a surprise you don't need

FWIW, I have a similar Craftsman compressor (that I rarely drain to be honest).
My biggest issue is broken connecting rod/piston assemblies.

the drain is likely brass and should open without too much issue . if it breaks it's easily replaced

I had the same one and drained it for the first time after owning it for over 20 years. The valve was completely clogged so I jammed a scratch awl in there. I really wished I had bled all the pressure off before I did that or at least had gloves on. *******.

Once you do get it drained, disconnect one of the fittings and drop in a borescope to have a look at the rust situation. You may not want to pressurize the tank again, based on what you find inside.
