Ok. I just bought a 2 ton Model M Hein Warner long jack. It holds weight as he lifted his F350 front end and it held for a few hours. I didn't see any leaks on the ground-good sign. However, it would seep out of one on the screws on top a little, not a lot but you could watch it. I also heard-what I thought-was air moving around in the system and bubbles. So I would like to drain out the old oil and refill and bleed it to see if lift any easier. To that end:

A) where is the drain plug?
B) where do fill it and bleed it from?

Thanks,

Mike

Here she is. Somehow the rear of the jack got bent outwards😱. I mean that is some damn good steel there. She is probably from the 80’s as she has a caution sticker on the handle.

I feel like it’s been awhile since I’ve tackled HW M, but if memory serves there should be a angled plug/screwdriver head that covers the fill port on top side. All your vertical plugs are valve components and not for filling or draining. I would try and tighten the plug that’s leaking. It will be a bear/messy to drain without removing the hydraulic unit. It’s possible that it’s a little low on oil and that’s what your hearing. Unfortunately HW makes it difficult to know what the current oil level is, it’s a sealed unit so you fill it up with X amount of ounces and your good to go. A picture of the top of the hydraulic unit should help identify the fill hole.

Thanks Hiball,

I will post a pic of the top of the hydro unit. I think I know which one you are referring to though.

Here is the top of the hydro unit. I added a little oil and it seemed to help out a bit.
