Draining our Dehumidifier

Hello!

We’ve had our dehumidifier draining through the hose as pictured for a few years now. All the sudden, the bucket now fills up, shutting down when the tank is full. The machine is bypassing the hose some how. I don’t see anything obviously wrong from the outside. What could the potential problem be? Thanks all!

does that connection have a separate condensate pump or rely on gravity feed like mine...
I say if your dehumidifier is still producing water, then its either the pump or something plugged up there.

Hose is probably plugged up somehow, or its possible the part of the dehumidifier the hose attaches to to drain has some sort of water scale build up preventing the water from going out through the hose.. Just ran into this exact problem with one my father put up. Hose was ever so slightly tilted up, and the water just filled up the container instead of draining out.

Could be that. It could also be ice on the coil or just dirt. Either can divert the dripping condensate around the pan and directly into the bucket.

Does the hose have a dip in it before it reaches the drain? If water collects in the hose it can cause it to back up and not drain properly. It happened to my older dehumidifier a few years ago and I thought it didn't matter as long as the end of the hose was below where it connects to the unit but I guess it did matter.

Thanks all!! Seems like I never took step one to see if the hose was clogged. Found this when I unscrewed the hose from the fitting. Hopefully this was the problem. [emoji1695]

It happens to mine every couple of years. Use a shop vac with some kind of small hose to **** the **** out where the drain hose attaches, if you just clear the hose the problem will be back shortly.

Soak the hose in White Vinegar and rinse.

I have to add White Vinegar to our condensation pans in the House and Shop HVAC units a couple of times a summer to keep them from getting slimy.

Airconditioners get the same kind of crud in the units, any place the mold spores land that's moist and dark is where they grow.
