Draining your compressor...

Hi guys and gals,

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to air compressors...

I got my first compressor last friday (Schneider CompactMaster 342-10-20W), and I decided to drain it today...

I read the manual on how to drain it, but apparently, it has a valve which has several operating modes, and its written in a way which I can't seem to understand...

What I did is just loosen the drain valve at the bottom, with some pressure in the tank... I heard the sound of air escaping, but no water came out! After I heard no more air, I just closed the valve. Do I need to remove the screw completely?

So, either I've done something wrong, or there really was no water in there? I've had the compressor for a week, but I didn't get around to using it much (say its had like 10 minutes of the motor going)...

What should I do?

Yep, you did it right; guess you have no water yet ....

There is less humidity in the air when the temperatures are low, so you will have less water in the tank during the winter, than you will during the summer. It also takes operating time to accumulate water in the tank, so the more you use the compressor, the more water you will accumulate.

I drain the shop compressors every night , not enough work to pay for destroyed air tools these days
