Drawer problem on Craftsman Chest, piece missing? Help!!

Hello

On my circa 2008 Craftsman Chest one of the drawers snags and comes off the track

I removed the drawer and neighboring drawers for better access

It looks like the right slider/track is missing some sort of carriage containing the ball bearings and also a black plastic end cap

I photographed the offending track along with the one above it that still works fine.

can these missing parts be purchased separately or must I replace the whole track assembly?

does anyone know where I can get one cheap... possibly used?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Look at the top drawer of the box and see if the model # starts with "706" (it should). If so, Waterloo Industries made that for Sears. Contact Christina Robinson of their parts department, she should be able to help you out.

The remaining slides appear completely intact and slide smoothly and quietly

just this one is broken, or more accurately is missing pieces

That's a Waterloo made unit. Yes, going to them instead of Sears tends to be cheaper. Speak to Christina Robinson at Waterloo Service Parts, she has always been helpful on my old stuff in the past.

Also try Amazon, Google and Ebay, sometimes you find the parts there too (Maybe someone is parting out a box...)

the weird thing is that when I look at the picture on sears parts direct, it shows the rail but does not show the little black plastic end cap that keeps the drawer from pulling off the track

I have the rail, I need the cap.... I don't mind buying a whole rail assembly to get the cap but it looks like the rail assembly does not include the cap based on the picture

I don't want to pay $28 and still not have the cap

It's hard to tell because that diagram on searspartsdirect is so poor, but is it that M9371 clip you need?



It's down at the bottom of the parts list, right after 13.

no, that part is round

this is just a square piece of plastic to keep the drawer from pulling all the way out, it snaps into the end of the rail.

top rail for 1st drawer has the part.
lower rail for 2nd drawer is missing black plastic part

That is part of the track, if you are talking about the black peice on the track in the picture. They are the same as the runners in our ambulances, they normally break dur to over loading and slamming the drawers open.

easily installed and removed from the rail

The problem I'm having is that the new rail assembly from sears (see link pic below) does not appear to include that part

the little black plastic piece IS included with the new rail assembly

Sears parts direct listed a price of $28.29 for part # 27845

Waterloo just sold me one for just $11.20
