Drawer replacement on Craftsman top chest?

One of my Craftsman chests has a drawer with a hinged clear lid. I don’t like this drawer as I find it cumbersome to fully remove the drawer and then open the lid to access whatever I store in it. I’d prefer a normal sliding drawer. Is there a replacement drawer I can put in it’s place? Currently there is some special plastic drawer slider there but have to think it is removable.

Can't believe that monstrosity is standard issue. You might start by taking all your drawers out to figure out how its attached and how to remove it.

I've owned a few Craftsman boxes and have never seen that.
Sears still sells some replacement drawer slides. Check for your model
I doubt they sell replacement drawers. Can you fab one up from sheetmetal?

I've been a member here awhile and don't recall so much jealousy as you guys have shown here. For the last time, it's not for sale. :lol:

You may be able to get what you need to switch it to a standard drawer from the division of Stanley/Black and Decker which acquired Waterloo Industries (the manufacturer of the toolbox). Try calling the Sedalia, MO # 660-826-0960. I was able to get replacement slides from them and it was very reasonable. It's worth a shot to see if what you need is available.

I met Bob at a Home Improvement Convention... along with "Norm"... I'm gonna say something some will be offended to... He's a hack... there I said it.
Bob is a hack or Norm ?

Bob I would believe.

I remember seeing an episode where I swore the dude was color blind. I can't remember exactly but it was something like, tan pants, yellow socks, black shoes, red shirt and green sweater vest. I thought of his mother would smack him upside the head if she saw him leave the house like that.

I have one of those in black that my brother and I got for my father one year now it’s in my shop. I would be interested in if you are able to replace the plastic tray as well. Hoping Stanley/ Waterloo can come up with a part. Keep us in the loop.

Bob = Hack
Norm = kinda a newbie... carpenter YES... furniture maker no... cabinet maker hell no... picnic table maker sure I guess so.

The ability to dress in a color coordinated fashion is not possible from that area of the country.
