This is something I just have to talk about. I have been in the market for a tool box for about 7 months now and I couldnt be more frusterated. Personally I feel Lista are the most durable for the best price. When u compare there strength to snap on they are neck to neck but lista is much cheaper. However I still feel that 2-3 grand is too much to spend. I have decided to build my own box. I have seen a few threads and I am an expert TIG, MIG and arc welder and recieved lots of sheetmetal fabrication skills in the military including drawer construction and design. I know it will be difficult and time consuming but listen to my advantages. It is completly customizable and I can choose any drawer configuration I want. Now ball bearing drawer slides will eat up most of the money in the project. But who says I have to buy all the same slides. for example...for those of you who have snap on, lista or some other box with very high load ratings(400+ lbs per drawer) why do u need that much support for your screwdriver drawer, or your electrical drawer, or even pliers drawer. I dont. Take all your screwdrivers out of your box and weigh them. Bet they dont even hit 40 lbs but you are paying for that heavy load capacity. When building my homemade box I can buy cheaper slides for these drawers as the same size height, length, brand and everything, just a diffrent weight capacity. This will save tons of money. I will buy heavy duty slides for the drawers that matter and maybe even double them up if i need to. This will be for ******** home use not proffesional. For all u proffesionals out there u probaly need those load ratings because the amount of use they get. For all u DIY's what do think? Lets stop bitchin about HF, craftsman boxes and lets use our hands and build some quality american made custom tool boxes.
