Don't use WD-40. Use SuperLube clear grease. Put some on your finger and press it in between the steel balls. They have it right at HF.

appreciate the insight. i will pick it up tomorrow. shouldn't need to take the drawers out, right?

either way, can i pack it in from the side of the slide or do I need to take drawers out?

Any dry lube that won't attract dust etc. Ball bearing types more like a grease, friction slides more like garage door lube.

WD-40 won't destroy ball bearing slides, but it will gum them up and prevent them from rolling freely. As has been noted numerous times on this site and others, WD-40 was invented for it's Water Displacing qualities, not it's lubricating qualities.

Pardon my hijack but what about cleaning before greasing? Any recommendations? About to buy some super lube and grease my drawers.
