drawing board upgrade

With every project needing a plan, the drawing board is essential to success.
I've always just used a straight edge, with triangles, protractor and dividers for laying out.
Now, I finally have a drafting machine fastened to the board.
It should really speed design and drawing time.

Ah! When I started drafting that's a similar setup I had. Vemco V-Track on a Saxon drafting table.
I'd love to have another one some day.

That's a cool drafting machine. I like this style of drafting machine because it combines the best features of a parallel rule and a pantograph style drafting machine. I still do board drawings for some of my personal projects. I find that I can be more creative with pencil & paper that with CAD.

I still have my Big HAMILTON drafting table. The Hamilton is more than 60 years old, now. It has a tilting top and plan drawers. I have the optional drawer set mounted under the table. VEMCO is the drafting machine I bought to replace the original cable, spring and pulley unit. I also have a Franz Kuhlman drafting machine i keep for no reason other than I like the mechanical look of it.
The Hamilton is now used for a layout and cutting table for my upholstery.

I'm with you, hand sketching seems to lend itself to creativity and problem solving
