I am currently having plans drawn for a new house with an attached 4 car garage. Very standard, nothing special.
I currently have a 20x20 2 car attached and knew I wanted more space.
Anyway... any advice from those of you that have been there done that?

Build it deeper if you can so you have room for workbench and shelving or equipment and scan still pull the car in as well as work on it

I have to agree with rsanter, the depth is too shallow. I think 26 ft. is minimum, and 30ft. excellent, given that full-sized 4-door pickup truck is at least 22 ft long.

I would push the doors closer together and maybe move them over to one side or the other. That could give you more space inside the garage at one end or the other for tool bench, storage, etc... Having nearly 6' between the doors is way more than you need and that space ends up wasted inside the space.

Be sure to add as much ceiling height (12') as you can so a,stacker will work. Also, if installing a two post, add extra reinforced concrete. Finally, watch the width and height of garage doors.....oh and a floor drain is nice

If you're not stuck with the exact outline already in the drawing, maybe move the lower door as close to the bottom of the drawing as possible. Then extend the garage into the currently outdoor space at the lower left. So the garage would now be a bit of a mirrored "L" shape. Then you would have one slot longer than 26', which--as others suggested--would be really nice.

I would go 30' deep. The width be 50' wide. Have 2 double doors be 18' wide by 8' tall. On the one side of the garage have 3' off to the one side of the garage. Then between the garage doors have there be 3'. The on the other side of the garage have 8' off to the side, from garage door.
