Is there a source for the Dremel EZ Lock cut off discs at a reasonable cost? Dremel was until recently HQ’d nearby in Racine Wisconsin, as of late they have closed down the facility and relocated to ??. I have used the disc’s for years but the cost has now escalated to about $3 a disc. I am not aware of another company that makes a disc with the same locking mount, (patent?) I see different places offer the Dremel brand discs but if you include shipping the cost is still beyond reasonable.
Thanks!

Interesting, I didn't know dremel was in racine.

How many do you go through? I usually use the regular mount style blades, but they're so dang fragile it's rarely my go to.

Dremel has been. HQ’d in Racine since it’s inception, it was bought out by Bosch some time ago.
Do not go through a lot of disc’s, but between my friends and myself we would like to find a good source and a reasonable cost.

I don't use a lot of those discs either but they are very nice. I haven't bought them in a while, probably have a couple left.

5 Pack for 15? Seems typical price for dremel stuff to me? Not great pricing but I have no clue what they used to be?

Not a fan of the ez locks.. they tend to get off center and vibrate if you get a little side load on the disc. Maybe it’s just me but I can buy a lot of the cheap ones. I like the fiber ones though.

ez locks are useless in my experience, like Carguy99 stated above the centers break away before the disc is worn out. good for dremel as it allows them to sell more, bad for me the guy paying for them.

If you happen to have a Zoro account, they have 5 packs for $10.97.

Grab one of their 20% off coupon codes and buy a couple other things you likely also need to get yourself over $50 for free shipping and you can end up with the Dremel cutting wheels you want for $1.76 each. If you don't already have an account to receive your own coupon codes, they pop up quite often in the GJ **Hot Deals** section's "Zoro Deals Thread". Just jump to the end where the most recent posts are.

If no coupon codes are available, just post a request for a coupon code in that thread and someone will usually have one they aren't going to be using.

I found they work well for lopping off exposed nails, bolt threads, and copper plumbing that is in tight locations. I believe the little plastic box I got 10 years ago had maybe 4 discs along with the arbor, and I'm down to my last one. I may have to hit that link above!

Hmm I've had the opposite experience. Other than being expensive, I love the EZ locks.

Same here. Always had good luck with the EZ locks, far better than the regular cheepy wheels held on with a screw.

This reminded me that I'm out, will have to hit up the Zoro link.

I resisted buying the EZ Lock for a long time, but when I had no luck finding the traditional fiber-reinforced ones and a job to do, I bought the mandrel & some discs. They worked well for me.

Wear your eye protection! I can't stress this enough! I've been using a Dremel-type tool since I got one as a kid for working on my slot cars back in the early 1960's (it still works) and I've been lucky. On my most recent Dremel rotary tool, I had a disc shatter and ruin a pair of safety-rated glasses on one lens. I bought a couple of ANSI-rated face shield web helmets and use those now.
