Dressing up garage doors

This is a question I have not seen here.

I am redoing my garage to a gathering place , making it into a mini diner and show garage. I'll have antique items for display , old gas pump , oil cans , old engine test equipment ,old dining signs etc on display. walls are being painted light gray , with a red accent bottom half and charcoal gray accent borders , trim etc.
floor will be black and white checker board tile design . It should look very nice when done .
But my 2 garage doors are white on the inside and I would like to do something with them , besides painting them . What ideas do you all have to dress them up.
A mural ? Or a picture of some sort ? Or paint like the walls ? I am open to ideas .

Thanks .

I think if I did anything I would paint them with the walls. Or maybe a large Ford emblem in the centre of one. If your planning on showcasing with them open then blend them with the ceiling somehow.
Sounds like a cool idea you are doing. I would love to have something like that, but I don't think I know enough people to have a gathering.

I just recently finished up my doors with white hardboard. Now I can use them as giant (12'x10') white boards for sketches, plans, lists -whatever.

I am a bit confused. You mentioned it will be a mini-diner. I take it that means you will be serving food. Doesn't that mean you need to meet all the requirements of a restaurant?

No , no differant than having people over your home for a large party .
We're not selling anything , nor is it open to the public , invite only .

Old license plates or vintage signs that would fit on the door panels would look good. How about an enlarged map of Route 66?

I like the images of race cars and aircraft coming at me face first. Printed and mounted.
Thanks for the vistaprint headsup!

I like the mural idea as well, I was thinking of putting a "screaming chicken" on the door where my TA is parked and a "stang" emblem in front of my wifes.... well.... Mustang. Just wasn't sure if it would stay on there. I will have to look into the vista print thing.

I know the naked ladies was a joke, but pit girls may be O K?

Do a search on Garage Door Murals.
A garage door is a big empty space and people love it.
There are lots of ideas out there.

You know what might look really good? Since your doing a Diner theme maybe you can have a mural made where your looking out in the street circa 1950's. Maybe the mural could have a diner window where your looking out into the town, there may be a couple walking, a car or building.

I just painted mine to match the walls. They practically disappeared. :)
