So I've noticed many people spending hundreds, even well over a thousand on epoxy, swiss traxx, race decks, etc. I'll hand it to you, those are all some nice floors. But I cant justify spending that kind of money on something that 3-4 guys are gonna use and abuse every day. I could never see our garage as one of those squeaky shops I see all over here. So we see the beauty in a less than perfect, well worn, hard life floor. So we have a grand total of about $11 invested in our floor (new roller, new paint tray, a poweraid, and some Reese's cups). Its just a couple used gallons of Behr 1 part epoxy we found in a crawl space and a few thorough sweeps with a broom and some purple power spot cleaning. So here it goes. I know many of you will probably strongly disagree with this but maybe some of you will see eye to eye and appreciate it.

Here is what we started with. Oil stains, hairline cracks, over spray, hard water stains, and just kind of nothing interesting going on.

Then we started today. We didn't have enough space inside to put everything so we are doing the room in halves. Here is the back half almost done.

And that's where we left off today. That's gonna dry overnight with a few space heaters in the room. Were moving light things back on tomorrow afternoon and doing the front half. Pretty excited to see how it all turns out. We're very aware its not gonna be perfect and it wont stay in all spots but it's better than what we had. Probably gonna seal it with seal-krete showroom finish or clear seal.

You probably didn't get many Reeses Peanut Butter Cups for $11.00 including a roller, paint tray, and Powerade...:D

Looks good so far- look forward to seeing it finished- and a follow up to see how well it holds up.

That's the magic words..."to see how it holds up".

It's gonna look great - for a few weeks anyways! That's why people spend so much - I did a "pretty good DIY job" (sanded to bare, cleaned twice) and then had moisture pick-up within one winter....

But hey - if you're happy with it - and it cleans it up for a while - why not?!

I believe I mentioned this in another thread, but we did something similar in our gym. Granted it had always been carpeted and didn't have deep soaked in oil stains but its held up really well for the past 4 years especially seeing as it regularly sees 400+ pounds of plates slammed on it. It didn't get a top coat either. Just a light scrub with bleach to kill some mold then 2 coats of epoxy. I'll grab a pic tomorrow if anyone's interested.
