Drill and Drive Bit Kit?

Just a DIY'er here looking for suggestions regarding a good for the money drill and drive kit since I just purchased a Ryobi 18V 1/2" drill and driver combo kit. It will only be used for projects around the house...far from professional use and abuse. I prefer something that can be picked up locally from Home Depot, Lowes, or be purchased via Amazon Prime.

Looking for a kit that covers all the bases that a homeowner would encounter around the house doing some renovations and minor work on cars, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc.

There are so many out there. Get a kit that has several styles of adapters for the bits. I also found that I needed a drill set with the common sizes needed that had 1/4 drive on the ends. Bits themselves are numerous and cheap.

Ryobi all the way. They have a **** load of tools on their platform.

For bits. Get what ever is on sale. They all wear out

I've looked at the Ryobi kits at HD and many of them look pretty comprehensive for the price, fitting for the Ryobi brand. The modular system they have where you can click together the different kits into the storage rack looks pretty neat as well.

If you will drill metal at all and want to stick with mostly 1/4" hex drive, Milwaukee's "Red Helix" drill bits are awesome for poking the occasional hole.

If you don't find a kit that suits you and you decide to piece it together, I highly recommend the bit rail in the VIM Magrail TL system for storing and organizing. I have one on my cart and I need to get a couple more.

Get th3 ryobi set from HD th big one it has everything. I have the Makita drill and driver and think the Makita gold bits are the best next to Milwaukee but for the price ryobi is cheaper.

Have had Ryobi for years in commercial application and they are tough! Never had good luck with hex bit drill bits. The bond loosens and you end up with a rough shaft drill bit. I usually buy the drill kits on sale that week. HF sells the hex to square drive adaptors and they do hold up well. 3 piece kit 1/4", 3/8"&1/2" and you are golden. Their 9 piece hex drive socket set also works but expect to lose the magnet. Their weak link. I have their 1/2" drive impact gun and use it on cars & trucks all the time. Has held up well.
