Hello everyone,

Please recommend drill bits that drill through metal. Do I need titanium, cobalt, carbide, high speed steel? I occasionally drill through metal that can be 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick and also through sheet metal. The size of the hole can be from 1/16 up to 3/4 inch.

Most of the time the bits that I use get dull pretty fast. Probably because they might be for wood.

These would be for occasional use.

Thanks

This set has flats so they don't slip in cordless drills. I do lots of Fabrication work and these are great. Use cutting lube or better yet a water soluble cutting lube like used for milling machines, but mixed in a spray bottle so you can keep the bits cool. These will drill stainless. Hss is fine for most general tasks and these are even a step better. Carbide is brittle and breaks too easily for general use.
