Drill Bit Sets ... anyone?

Mine arrived today. They were shipped in a USPS large envelope. Aside from being the sharpest tools in my garage, the case they come in is pretty good. it has a large rubber seal that makes the case water tight. Should cut down on any issues with moisture/rust. At $50 a set these were maybe the best deal I have had on tools this year.

No Joke. I ordered both sets, they came in a Priority box. I'm gonna tape a desiccant pack from a pair of shoes into the lid, which will prevent any rust.

I'll see if I can get detailed pictures tonight.

I've got about 30 of them floating around the toolbox. Sure, they aren't particularly effective, but they are better than nothing.

Pics coming in a few.

Also making a cameo, my new Jacobs 16N chuck.

Got mine today also. Flat rate box. I got both sets of bits and the drill/tap set. All seem to be of super quality and all in nice cases. Very happy with the purchases. Thanks again to the OP!

Got mine too. It is a nice case, so nice that I went looking for another one. It's Norseman #56270 but Google didn't turn up much. Fastenal has them for $31..... more than I wanted to spend.

So tempting!!

DO IT!!!!!!!

Then send them down to me for sharpening when worn out. For free. :) Yes.

Today is day 2 or Drill Dr. "Let's learn how to sharpen drill bits" day at the jjjr house.

Totally awesome. But tedious. But awesome. But tedious. But awesome. But tedious. But awesome.

Wait. what?
Oi vey.

I am interested in the set of standard taps with the corresponding drills since I do not have a complete set by any means. Will have to send him an email!

I did buy that set because of several holes in my current set. I haven't used them yet but they appear to be of great quality.

I finally bit the bullet and got a set of these bits. I gave the guy great feedback but they barely made it here. They were in a priority envelope and the envelope was ripped pretty bad. If 1 or 2 more postal people would have touched them they would have been lost somewhere

I've noticed a lot of Ebayers are using the flat rate envelope this way and almost every time the item is dangling from the envelope by the time it arrives. I wish the PO would stop accepting packages like this.

Agreed! Mine was shipped in the flat rate envelope as well and it was half hanging out. Luckily the case is awesome and everything was still there!

Half of them you'll never even use..I prefer stub length, anyway...They drill with less wander...Someday you'll know what I mean...You know how to hand sharpen bits yet...?

Made on offer for $50, he countered w/ $55, went to work thinking I'd do it when I get back. They're gone :dunno:

The more projects I do, the more I appreciate a good quality tool.

I got mine the day before yesterday. They were in a priority envelope not damaged. Same condition as the rest: sharp, oiled and ready to go. I might buy a second set just to have!

as the old adage goes you get what you pay for. don't get me wrong this was still a fair deal but I would bet its QC issues like this that warranted the pricing

check out the grind on the 13/32"

I'd not hesitate to contact the seller. All of mine look perfect. I'm betting that the misgrind is the exception rather than the rule.

Also, check the bits for runout. Some seem very slightly bent. I've also seen this with the same bits I bought from Epstein. I wonder if they're so cheap because they're seconds?

Mine look okay, at first I thought the lengths were off because a smaller diameter bit looked longer than the larger one next to it. Then I realized it's the way the case is made.

My bits arrived in perfect shape (though the envelope left something to be desired)...gtlaw, I'd definitely contact the seller.

For one bit, I'd touch it up and not worry. It's not worth anyone's time, no matter how much you pay.

Contact Norseman themselves, and show them the picture. I'll bet you a dollar that they'll ship you a replacement bit.
