drill bit storage

I need ideas i have a million tips and 40 drill bits and need storage and organiztion ideas what is everone using thanks

they are currently laying all over my drill bag and i never find the one i need in a tiumely fashion

I'm going to take a couple miscellaneous bits I have and just drill a few holes into a board, then have them sit in there.

I would like to get a few of the holders like the Do-It center bits come in, but that'd probably mean I'd get more bits and solve nothing.

i was using a plano holder till i stepped on it then i have this calamity of a situation

I have one of these to hold the extras



and then a couple of indexes that I keep in the drill drawer for daily use. The S&Ds from 1/2 to 1" are in a Huot stand, and larger and some misc. stuff is in this drawer. The least used stuff is in the parts cabinet.

Drill index for drill bits that need to travel. Baby Soda Bottle Test Tubes from Steve Spangler Science (google it), looks like they even have racks though I have not used those. PVC pipe with caps as required for large drill bits.

some how i can't see that as a good idea i keepp my bag in a toolbox in my truck i would definatly cut my hand open

you could always just get another plano holder

for the workbench, I took a piece of maple, drew a grid on it and drilled holes.

for the toolbag, I use either the plastic strips or clamshell holders, or a plano fishing tackle box.
