I've been on Google for a while trying to figure this out with no luck. I just got a Craftsman 113.213842 drill press that has chuck marked LP13SC JT33 and did n9t come with a key. If I am correct this is a Rohm chuck. I can't seam to find what key this uses. I did see a listing for on a sears parts website, but it did not identify what type of key.

JT33 is the mount taper on the chuck, nothing to do with the key....

I'd be interested in what result you would get if you called Sears.

Thanks for all the replies. I did see the $35 sears replacement already. Without matching the chuck to a key in person, how do you order a new key? Is the ID # on the chuck itself not enough information?

buy a four way chuck key, and see which of the four ends fits your chuck. You can buy a four way for less than $10

A picture would be most helpful.

in my experience, if that is a Rohm or other name brand chuck, it will be labeled as such. Given no brand name on the chuck, I would assume it is likely a generic Asian economy import. As such, your choices seem to be limited to ordering a replacement key based on the sears model number, or getting lucky by matching it up at a hardware store.

Thanks, this kinda makes sense. Now I have to try and get the chuck off this drill press. I've already loosened the retaining ring. I guess I have to put a little more preasure on the chuck.

Take the drill into a good hardware store and try out the keys in the chuck.

^^Are you serious??

You can measure the I.D. of the chuck hole, approximate the O.D. of the gear wheel and find a key that comes close.

The original key might be so expensive because it has the turned down end for inserting into the collar's hole. That feature is not critical. It could also have the self ejecting safety feature.

Should be easy then, the keys I have with a 1/4" pilot, are the same (size), and are very small chucks.
