I want to get a DeWalt Drill and Impact Driver Kit.

Which one should I go with? HD.com has 3 different 20V sets...

nothing wrong with the 1.5ah batteries if you go brushless. i just bought another set of 20v brushless with the drill and impact for $209 from acmetools.com they were down to 199 but i missed out on that.

If you're not set on Dewalt look into the Ridgid set, lifetime tool and battery replacement including wear and tear.

We have a local dewalt service center. Warranty is a breeze.. I have even had several batteries swapped out for me there. On one occasion i took batteries in that were way past the warranty period and was offered new ones at 50% off.

That is the same kit that I just bought.. I bought it to replace a small 12v max set that i use everyday for work and have used for the last 2 years that still work flawlessly. I also have a 18v li-ion 3 speed hammer drill that is awesome that still works like the day i bought it 4 years ago.

That drill for 149 is not worth the money. That is the bottom of the barrel stuff. I love the brushless set. I bought the same set for my dad for christmas and had used it a couple of times. You can't beat it no matter what which is why i just bought the same set for myself. I couldnt pass it up at 209.00

Sorry, I meant the warranty process on the lifetime Ridgid. I'm leaning towards this DeWalt kit...is it worth $259?

I paid $99, but I think I'll go with the brushless kit instead...

I was just looking at this one! How do you like it?
I originally bought this for $99, but now think I'll get a kit instead...

They have updated the process and it's painless to register. Before you used to have to mail stuff in. Now everything is done online via a serial number off your receipt. I did a sander that way and it was great, much better than the old way. I have a 1/2" VSR, the Ridgid impact/drill kit, and a sander from Ridgid. Very happy with their product.

This is for home use. In 2-3 years when your lipo battery is depleted and won't hard a charge, you're out another $100 for another set of batteries. Every time my cordless batteries went I ended up just buying a new complete set of tools. I was tired of it. The Ridgid stuff has been great, loads of power. I looked at the Dewalt in store, just can't justify it. I'm sure it's nice but over the lifetime of owning it, the costs really escalate.

I was told that Milwaukee makes
Rigid for HD. I know their batteries
work better in low temps than my
Makita or DeWalt stuff.

Any thoughts on this set?

I was looking for a set last night.

They dropped the price and finally released the rest of the line at Lowes. Great kit, very comfortable and had the most tq of any of the drivers when I was looking. It wont always bust off lug nuts but my 1/2 inch air impact struggles sometimes too. The drill will kick you if you have the clutch locked and you are using a big bit, its a powerful too. The only issue I have right now is that the batteries are hard to come by locally but thay should change soon since they are dumping the 18 volt stuff. The 20v batteries charge quick and last a good while. I think that I got that set for 140 at Lowes in June.

In short I love the set.

They do. Milwaukee, Ridgid, then Ryobi. There are certainly quality differences between the 3. However one thing is the same - the cells in the batteries are all the same (Sanyo).

I more than likely won't be using the impact driver for lug nuts etc.. More for driving fasteners into wood etc, I used my brothers impact driver last week and it was much easier to control versus a drill.

Thanks for the review and sorry to the OP for hijacking his thread.

As far as that goes it does lag screws and 4 inch deck screws really well.

I have had the 12v Max for a few
years. It is great to use on a ladder.
It will run drywall screws all day
and not wear you out. I dont need
the 20v, yet.:D
