Hello all!

Purchased a Craftsman model 80 a few weeks ago and I'm in the middle of restoring it. I may have broken the most cardinal rule; take pictures of your restoration. I needed to replace some bearings and in the process, found that someone might have been in missing with the quill assembly once before. Found two different washers (sizes and thicknesses) and two different bearing part numbers. I found a parts breakdown on the vintage machinery website, but when assembling by the book, the spindle assembly shaft will slide up and down approx. 1/8 to 3/16 up and down. Does anyone or could anyone help me out by posting some pictures of the quill assembly, possibly even broke down? I'm sure the extra washers probably wont hurt anything, but I want this machine to be as correct as possible. Thanks all! :rocker:

Franklee, thank you! I build it up according to the manual and you confirmed I put it back together correctly. When I tore it down, the rubber and metal washers were on the bottom near the collar/chuck. I would be interested in some O-rings! Thanks you. Attached is how it is assembled as of now; I sandwiched the rubber washer with the metal washers for now until I can try the new O-rings.

Side note, without either metal washer, the spindle shaft will move up and down inside the bearings.

Thanks. I have been pretty bored in the evenings. Now, to start the motor. Found some wires that may need replaced inside due to the original insulation cracking, being brittle, etc... Trying to think of what may be best.
