Drill press help

I just acquired this drill press last week, and the chuck will not move vertically. Having never owned or worked on one of these, where do I start in trying to diagnose/fix the problem? Also where to find a manual on this perhaps? Any info or help appreciated

Could be the quill lock is tight or the depth stop is set wrong. How about a couple of photos that show the entire head?

The spindle and lower bearing has fallen right out of it so working out why that has happened would be the first thing to do.

Anyone have an idea on where I can get an exploded view, would be helpful to know how this is supposed to go together, and if anything is missing. The person I bought it from was not the original user

Those are some bad pics, but it looks like that knob on the front is a quill lock someone added, probably try loosening that if you haven't already. Might see if anything here helps http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=698&tab=3

I just google the brand and model and all sorts of documents come up for my delta 32” radial arm drill including exploded diagrams. Give it a shot and good luck.
