Drill press ID help

Alright got a drill press that I can buy for $100... Interesting variable speed setup but I want to see if you all know if its worthwhile for the money...
It has a bad motor and the arc of shame is one of the worst I have see

Kind of neat with all those speeds, but in that shape, I'd have trouble giving more than $25 for it. You could make a bolt on cover to hide that table mess.

I suspect your drill press is a modified or unusual Delta based on the base.

But $100 is too much for that poor, beat-to-**** old D.P. Although old Delta's are desirable, if the seller doesn't even know it's a Delta then he's just fishing for a big payday.

Without a useable motor and with a table that looks like that I can only imagine the general state of the quill bearings and the chuck. Unless I was on my way to the scrap yard, or had another one that needed some small donor part, I would think twice before picking that one up if it was on the curb marked free.
If you got it for almost nothing, you might be able to part it out for the value of the pulleys and maybe the chuck is useable if you can get it off, but what is your time worth?

edit: On second look, the chuck is missing!
...... But the motor control switch is cool!

It looks like a taper spindle. If that pulley is an oem option, $40 is almost nothing.

FrankLee is no doubt right on the value of the pulley as motivation to part it out. If that works out to be true, somebody here will cash you out and you might make a few bucks and get good GJ karma.

That's the worst set of "apprentice marks" I've ever seen.

If the table column clamp has all the internal table raising gears along with the crank that's an easy $50-75.

I agree with Frank on the pulleys. (especially if they're the low speed set).

The handle/hub along with the quill spindle assembly have value.

$40 is nothing to pay for it if you want to part it out.

However it's sure sad to see such a fine machine so trashed

I'd take a closer look. Candy-Otto used those multi-spreed pulleys and if that's what it is, they were fine machines. D/P tables are readily available on Ebay-just check the column diameter and 1/2 h/p motors are common. If the rest of the machine is sound, $40 might not be such a bad deal. But then I'm just a sucker for beat up old machines.

That is/was a delta 17", slower speed model. Not worth restoring at that point. Parts only machine. Looks like the table crank and rack is gone as well. Someone tried to make a 3rd pulley via the foot down feed mounting hole.
