I have a drill press with a 1/2 HP motor and a pulley with 3 sizes. The motor is shot and I have a 3 HP motor that fits (kinda)

The shaft is 1/2" diameter on the pulley and 5/8 on the motor. There is not enough meat in the pulley to drill it out. The larger motor had a single pulley and it works with that. Where can I find a 3 sized pulley for the bigger shaft??

(AKA where is the pulley store?)

Thanks

I made my own pulleys for a Canedy Otto vintage drill. You may need a lathe and a milling machine,

I kind of worry that a drill press that was designed for a 1/2hp motor is going to have problems surviving with a 3hp motor if it is ever heavily loaded (on purpose or by accident).

More likely we have a typo going here? He probably meant 1/3hp and no 3hp motor I've ever seen has a 5/8" shaft.

Most any good local hardware store will have a 5/8" ID 4-step Congress pulley on the shelf. It won't be an exact match for the OEM, but will work. However, used motors with 1/2" shaft are cheap and thick on the ground, save that pulley and keep watch for another motor.

You may need a lathe and a milling machine,. . . . It is all about learning how to grind the cutters and set the angles.
You always need a lathe and a mill and a shaper and a tool cutter grinder
