I am looking for a drill press, just for occasional home/hobby use. Looking to be in the $100-200 range, but may extend a bit if its worthwhile. Bench top is fine, does not have to be freestanding. Any recommendations in this price range?

So far this looks like the best bang for the buck.

But is it a lot different than the $100 models, like this, or a harbor freight models?

Thanks!

I'd recommend looking for a nice used machine, you can usually get 10x the quality of one of those new ones by finding a nice old used machine. If you insist on new, maybe someone here can answer your original question. :dunno:

Look for used drill press. Ideally vintage USA-made, but older Taiwanese presses are very good, especially the models with the built in lights and 5/8" chuck. Some of those even have an idler pulley and can go very slow.

Another vote here for CL. I scored an old standing walker turner from the 40's in nice shape, built like a tank, with a desk drawer full of HSS drill bits $150.

I had been looking for about 3-4 months and I jumped on it as soon as it was posted.

Given enough time you can always find a good deal on CL.

An older 3 pulley Taiwan 14" drill press with a table lift is pretty decent. As much as I like my old Craftsman 150 I do miss the table lift my Rigid had. A Craftsman 100 or 150 or something similar is cooler though. Where you located?
